Some Were Called…

Years ago I was talking with an elder and friend who summed up a lesson from a biblical story by saying; “some were called….and some just went.” The wisdom in the phrase is to appreciate that while some people might be called to participate in something, other people are only participating because it’s the known. Because it seems like what they “should” be doing - which is different, then doing what they’re called to do. I think about this distinction all the time. It’s been an ongoing invitation to check in with myself and ask; am I called to this? Does something in me feel compelled to go there, or say that, or create this? Or am I responding to what other people are doing. Am I responding to societal expectations? Am I performing in the interest of being viewed in a specific way. And honestly? Even just posing the question has helped me stay aligned. Because it’s usually pretty obvious. If I just pause to listen, my “no” is not particularly shy.

In the space created by that clarity, I get to listen for what calls me.

I get to listen for, and align with, my specific mission here on Earth. My specific intention to co-create Love on Earth. When that’s my compass? Everything that’s noise, is easily identified as noise. Other people’s projections become just that - an invitation to get comfortable with the fact that we might be called to different things.

Understanding this allows me to stand in the truth that my way of doing things might be different, but that doesn’t make it wrong. I don’t need permission to be me. And I don’t need to take other people’s projections personally.

The only thing that says I should is is scarcity, and I choose not to subscribe to that way of relating.

I choose to go where I’m called.
