Ethiopia Forever

When I talk about Ethiopia I’m not talking about made up borders. I’m not talking about tribe or lineage. I’m talking about the land and the people who belong to the land.

No amount of war or arguing or killing does anything to change the fact that all of our people belong to the land.

And if we are honest with ourselves? To belong to the land is to belong to each other.

The brutality in Ethiopia is so painful because ours is a people who so obviously belong to each other and yet we have found reasons to forget that.

We kill each other because our Ancestors killed each other - but that hasn’t always been our truth. This brutality is not who we are.

Ethiopia, Ethiopia;

Remember.

I believe that Ethiopia can show the whole world what healing looks like.

People will say why put all of that responsibility and trust in Ethiopia?

And to them I would say; have you met our land? Have you met our people? Have you met our song?

This is our destiny.

Ethiopia is destined to show the world how to remember.

But first we must remember ourselves.

To heal is to remember that Ethiopia is love.

To tell the truth is a tradition of those I belong to.

AFRICA LIVES

But lately it is a tradition that we do not name.
